I practice surgical interventions such as:

-thoracotomy
-cystectomy

-pulmonary resections
-lobectomy
-pneumonectomy
-thoracoplasty

and of lesser difficulty:

-general thoracic biopsies
-pleurotomy
-CT guided pulmonary punctions

At the department of thoracic surgery we surgically treat diseases such as:

-broncho-pulmonary neoplasm
-benign and malignant mediastinal tumors
-benign and malignant pulmonary tumors
-congenital defects
-thoracic traumas
-benign and malignant costal tumors
-pulmonary suppurations tuberculous or non-tuberculous
-bronchiectasy
-pulmonary abscesses
-tuberculous lumps and caverns
-diseases with pleural pathology (benign and malignant tumors of the pleura, suppurative pleural
affections, pleurisy, etc)
-hidatid cysts and others.

Since the year 2007, we started collaborating with SANTIOM imagistic center, and now CT guided punctions for pleural and pulmonary affections can be performed.

The equipment used on the anesthesia line is called Leon Plus, made by Heinen Lowenstein. Leon Plus is an anesthesia post which can be used for adults, children, infants and premature born children, which allows both controlled ventilation and manual ventilation, also spontaneous breathing:

Ventilation options:

-volume controlled ventilation (IMV)
-pressure controlled ventilation (PCV)
-intermittent mandatory synchronized ventilation(S-IMV)
-pressure limited synchronized ventilation(S-PCV)
-pressure sustained ventilation (PSV)
-type of ventilation at using artificial heart-lung system(HLM)
-manual ventilation (MAN)
-spontaneous breathing (SPONT.)
-watching the vital functions with a modern monitor that can watch heart rate, segment analysis is in 3 and 6 VIPB derivations, carbon dioxide levels monitors
-dosing of the anesthetic medication during the anesthetic act, helped by a computer included in the monitor
- volatile anesthetics such as Izofloran and Sevoran, and also the automat Mac counting
- the possibility of postoperative ventilation support with SIMV
- touchscreen display

In this city there are only two hospitals that use this kind of equipment: the County Hospital and the Infectious Diseases and Pneumophysiology V. Babes Hospital.

I have a PHD in medical sciences, MD in thoracic surgery, competence in Thoracoscopic surgery, coordinator of the Clinical Compartment of Thoracic Surgery at Number 4 “Victor Babes” Hospital, Timisoara.
